The promoter of this event has regretfully advised that this event has been rescheduled to FRIDAY 27 NOVEMBER @ THE COMEDY STORE. All patrons will be contacted via Ticketek and tickets will be valid for the new date. Should you be unable to attend the new date, refunds will be available.

Award-winning comedian Steph Tisdell (The Project, Triple J, ABC, Hughesy We Have a Problem) and breakout star of 2019 returns to the Sydney Comedy Festival with her brand new show ‘Baby Beryl’.

When the idea for this year’s show was conceived Steph was obsessed with naming trends, how manes go in and out of fashion, and after finding out there was a 12 year old Beryl she became hell bent on finding her.

Unfortunately the search for Baby Beryl didn’t quote work out, but what did come out of it is a hilarious hour of improvised, interactive and off-the-cuff comedy that explores themes of community, vulnerability, authenticity and Steph’s ability to get herself into some of the strangest situations while sitting barefoot on the street drinking iced coffee.

Come along, bring some stories, share your funniest life experiences and embrace the weirdness that is “Baby Beryl”.

Steph is a proud indigenous woman and is quickly making a name for herself as one of Australia’s funniest comedians, putting her in a unique position to encourage other Aboriginal artists to come forward and showcase why they’re the funniest race in the world. Steph has recently performed sold out shows at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Soho Theatre in London and Adelaide Fringe Festival with the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars, she is a regular on The Project, co-hosted Triple J breakfast during Naidoc week alongside David Woodhead, appeared in a yet to be released feature film, and is the host of this years Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala for Oxfam. Steph’s comedy is vulnerable, real and insightful. Her witty observations challenge stereotypes in non-offensive and hilarious ways.

“Like Hannah Gadsby, she clearly recognises that true vulnerability is a powerful place to excavate comedy material and her authenticity on stage is remarkable” – Adelaide Review

“Steph Tisdell is a glorious powerhouse of First Nations funny” – The Scotsman

“Unapologetically cheeking and brimming with zest and original material” ★★★★★
– Ed Fest Magazine

she’s got an ease with an audience and a joke strike rate that many comedians with far more experience would envy…warmly funny, immediately relatable, fast on her feet and generous with her audience. ★★★★ – Time Out
