Each year, we hand-pick the best emerging Australian comedians for our FRESH program.
We caught up with FRESH-ER Floyd Alexander-Hunt:
When and where was your first gig and how did it go?
Molotov in Glebe. It was an open mic and there were about 45 people on the line up. It went pretty well although I regret doing a pun joke… At least I wasn’t as bad as the guy who yelled at the audience.
What do you love most about being a comedian?
That I don’t have to wear make up.
What can we expect from your debut Sydney Comedy Festival show?
Lots of jokes, some funny violin songs and a very cringeworthy story I’m scared to share…
Your best advice for someone wanting to pursue a career in comedy?
Don’t do a comedy course, just go and try some open mics. The best way to learn is to fail and it’s free! Also if you’re a woman and you’re wondering whether you should give it a go – you should!
The funniest person you know who’s not a comedian and why?
My 14 year old sister because she is super sarcastic and jaded for a child.
