Unplanned Melodies, a group of improvisers, singers and idiots, have been making stuff up together since early 2017, using suggestions from the audience to create larger than life characters and improvise raucous, melodic, lyrical and silly musical stories at the drop of a hat.

Audiences can expect all the infectious energy of a Broadway musical with the unexpected hilarity and silliness of improv theatre, as an entirely original musical experience is composed before your very eyes. Prepare for songs that have never been sung before to get stuck in your head, leaving you clicking your fingers, grinning and humming all the way home.

Unplanned Melodies are regulars in the Sydney Comedy and Improv scene. An explosive year in 2019 saw them receiving multiple standing ovations at Secret Garden Festival, playing to a sell-out crowd at the Australian Improv Festival, performing at Sydney comedy venues Kweens of Comedy and Stand Out Comedy, packing out the room for a joyful run at the Sydney Fringe Festival and appearing twice at the ITs Comedy Festival in November.

Unplanned Melodies have trained with Aria Award winning Bridie Connell (Whose Line Is It Anyway Australia, Tonightly) and have had the pleasure of working with some of Sydney’s best musicians for the last 2 years. Between them they have trained in singing, in improv with Improv Theatre Sydney (ITS), and Internationally with Chicago’s iO Theatre, and The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) in New York City.
