Sydney Comedy Festival 2019 Winners Announced!

2018 Gala SCF_Enmore_Zakarij-9225

It’s Awards Time!

After four amazing weeks of laughter at the Sydney Comedy Festival featuring over 220+ shows at venues across Sydney, it’s finally time to say goodbye for another year.

We wrapped up our 2019 program with at huge weekend at Sydney Town Hall featuring a day program for kids at the Comedy For Kids Gala, the hottest acts of the festival at the End of Festival Gala, our up-and-coming artists with our Break Out Comedy Showcase and finished the night with our 2019 Festival Awards!

This year’s winners are….

BEST OF THE FEST 2019

Cassie Workman – Giantess

A poetic and deeply personal insight into the transgender experience Cassie Workman’s Giantess manages to wrap her personal experience into a comedic fairytale featuring a car park troll and a little girl. Cassie’s wit and musical talents fit seamlessly into this emotional rollercoaster and is without a doubt this year’s Best of the Fest!

BEST NEWCOMER 2019

Chris Ryan – Bogus

Unapologetically herself and not afraid to say what everyone is thinking Chris Ryan belongs on the stage! As one of this year’s FRESH artists, Chris has had crowds in laughter at venues across Sydney including last weekends End of Festival Gala at Sydney Town Hall. Chris has proven she is one to keep an eye on and is this year’s Best Newcomer!

DIRECTOR’S CHOICE 2019

Demi Lardner & Tom Walker – We Musn’t

True to their brand, Demi and Tom brought the absurd to the festival this year with their weird and wonderful show ‘We Mustn’t', a tale that follows two mischievous brothers left home alone for the day. These two feed off each others energy on stage and bring energy to their show which leaves fans filled with joy and slight insanity.

A huge congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who was apart of this years Sydney Comedy Festival. See you next year!
